Til Debt Do Us Part
The book, Til Debt Do Us Part, is the story of the Banburys’ journey from Wales, England, to the U.S.A. to make their fortune on Wall Street. Hard work and honest integrity are on their side, and they move among the upper echelons of society.
However, this utopia is short-lived when a genius stockbroker comes onto the scene and swindles many prosperous clients out of their fortunes, including Daf Banbury. This is a financial crisis, and the genius broker suddenly disappears.
There is prison following, but an eventual release of Daf for exemplary behavior. Daf enlists in the army and is sent to fight in Vietnam. His son Clive follows him soon after. Daf pays the ultimate price in warfare.
Meanwhile, the family is scattered across the globe, and all are successful. A Purple Heart is given in memory of Daf. J. R., the genius broker who suddenly surfaced from nowhere. Financial restitution is made at great danger.
Enid Catrine, Daf’s wife, closes the saga by sharing a guarded secret with Clive, her son.

From the Ashes: The Fire This Time
I was born into a world already on fire—North Philadelphia heat, church-pew hymns, schoolhouse judgments, and the quiet blaze of a boy trying to become whole in a country that rarely makes room for his full humanity. I learned early how to wear confidence like armor. How to survive the Veil. How to keep moving even when shame tried to name me.
From the Ashes: The Fire This Time is not a story about perfection—it’s a story about return. Return to the sacred grounding of a grandmother’s discipline and love. Return to lineage—HBCU footsteps and ancestral memory. Return to Black love that refuses to hide. Return to a self no longer performed for approval but claimed in truth.
Braiding Baldwin’s fire, Du Bois’s veil, and Akbar’s African-centered call to know thyself, Lewis Thomas III offers a memoir that reads like a testimony and a map. With lyrical honesty and unflinching tenderness, he invites readers into the heat where identity is forged, where community becomes salvation, and where radical healing is not a destination but a practice.
For anyone who has ever been misseen, mislabeled, or made to doubt their worth: this book is a reminder—you have always been worthy of everything.

How to Man
Somewhere along the way, the rules of manhood got confusing. The goalposts moved, then moved again. Then someone lit them on fire. In the wake of all this “progress,” we forgot to be men. How to fix things, build a life, and love.
How to Man is an attempt to steady the ship for a new generation on the cusp of manhood. It’s not a memoir, and it’s definitely not self-help. It’s a collection of experiences, observations, and lost skills from a father trying to figure out what’s worth holding onto and worth passing along. Some entries are funny. Some are blunt. None of them pretend to have the answers.
This is a personal book, written for my son, and maybe for anyone else trying to get manhood right.

The Tale of Lady Onyx
Living in one of the border states, he favored the National Park along the Canadian border for his outdoor activities. The park offered him the opportunity to hike and see wildlife, large and small. For the hiker, visiting this park was an annual ritual for rest, and it provided the perfect setting for his favorite outdoor sport: fly fishing and hiking.Over the years, the Hiker had noticed significant real estate developments, condos, and multiple campgrounds not far from the park, leading to encroachment and reduction of adequate natural land for wildlife habitats. These changes have altered the landscape surrounding his favorite outdoor park for a retreat.During his hike to the park, he witnessed a mama bear and her cubs for the first time. The cubs were in the creek, playing and learning to swim in its deep water. Rather than staying close to her young cubs to ensure their safety, the mama bear was preoccupied with eating human waste from a discarded trash bag. This encounter left a profound impression on him regarding the bear’s addiction to human food. The sight of the black bear choosing human garbage over protecting her cubs highlighted the detrimental effects of human food addiction on wildlife behavior.

Where the Body Becomes Sea
In Where the Body Becomes Sea, Lia Valenne composes a poetics of dissolution, where the body is no longer fixed, language no longer stable, and identity no longer secure. These poems move through absence, memory, and rupture, tracing the fragile boundary between what can be held and what inevitably escapes. Here, the self is not a unified voice but a shifting field of echoes: fractured, searching, and persistently unfinished.
Valenne’s work resists consolation. Instead, it lingers in the tension between presence and loss, where meaning flickers but never settles. Images emerge like tides, returning, receding, and transforming, carrying with them the weight of longing, estrangement, and quiet resilience. The sea becomes not just a metaphor but a condition: vast, unstable, and generative, dissolving the limits of the body even as it gives form to its depths.
With lyrical intensity and philosophical depth, this collection invites the reader into a space where poetry does not explain but enacts, where language breaks, reforms, and opens onto something both intimate and ungraspable. Where the Body Becomes Sea is a meditation on what remains when certainty dissolves and on the strange, enduring impulse to speak from within that dissolution.

Pieces Across Time
In a dozen essays on life, Pieces Across Time tells a multilayered story that echoes highlights in the evolution of Earth and its inhabitants. Focus is the natural world and the spectrum of possibilities in the tool kit of human nature. This book provides important food for thought concerning the miracle of life on earth and the future of life as we know it.
The basic theme is life, the driving evolutionary force of nature across time, and humankind’s relationship with it. Nature is the interaction of all forms of life with everything inanimate, even rocks and minerals. Geoscience deals with all aspects of our earthly home, including its origin and ours, what came before us, how Earth has been shaped by us, and how, in turn, it has helped to shape us.
Memories fade, and, saddled with environmental amnesia, current conditions are viewed as more or less normal. Industrial society hones the disconnect between nature and human beings. Nature-based awareness is smothered by our passion for having, rather than being.
Long ago we made our stand as hunter-gatherers, whereas today the mass of humanity is the most powerful force affecting change on the planet. However, human nature has scarcely changed since the height of the last Ice Age, and attempts to manage our home on this small blue dot in the void are increasingly called into question. Ours is a fast-moving global society perched on the razor-thin edge of sudden change. From an ethical perspective our place in nature must be to serve as stewards of our living planet.
