The title "Honor My Father" caught my eye due to my own extended bereavement after the heartbreaking loss of my dad many years prior. Any book with Father or Daddy in its title has always drawn me in. Clint Nye takes you on a personal journey exploring his father's life and many achievements. He not only honors his father's outstanding accomplishments, but he also took the time to research and honor the names of the men who served alongside his father on the Naval destroyers to include the USS Bancroft (DD-598) and USS Goodrich (DD-831). Clint's writing is raw, refreshingly honest and transparent. Reading his book helped me to accept my own bereavement in a way I had not experienced before. He helped me come to the realization that the depth and length of my sadness was normal. There is no set time frame to process grief and we will all experience grief at some point in our lifetime. What we take away from a loss so profound is what we have left...to honor them. Honoring a parent is a gift, a treasure. During the course of my reading, I found myself experiencing all kinds of emotions. I laughed out loud in one moment and was moved to tears the next. You too will be deeply moved by the realness of his writing. Clint hinted at the possibility of a second book. I look forward to reading what direction his life took next. I highly recommend reading "Honor My Father".
