Join Kamakshi P. Murti at the Indie Author Open House Event

Kamakshi P. Murti , author of 'Lalli's Window', will be at Patrick Henry Library on Saturday 14th October taking part in the Indie Author Open House. You will get a chance to question Kamakshi on the journey that led to the creation of her book and maybe even grab yourself a signed copy. When eleven-year-old Lalli recuperates from an accident, her world is defined by what she sees outside her bedroom window. But when Lalli witnesses the strange reaction by her old and slightly odd neighbors to a letter they've received, little could she have envisioned what the consequences would be. Not only for Lalli but for the wonderful Mr. Steave. Featuring a soccer-mad brother, cool home-schooling teacher for a father and a gifted Mennonite violinist, Kamakshi P. Murti has woven a story around the life of a young South-Asian American girl, which, at its core, has the universal themes of family forgiveness, true friendship and the power of neighbourly love.

Book Signing - Medway Local Authors Book Fair

The Medway local authors book fair brings Richard Cruttwell’s thriller masterpiece for a book signing. Born in Bexley, Richard found the newly emerging punk rock scene to be the perfect outlet for teenage angst, but after shelving his personal dreams of attaining rock and roll stardom, he put his life on hold and turned his creative focus to photography and writing. "Room 13: Between Hell and Redemption" sees Stephen Caldwell finds himself rotting in a Polish prison for a murder he maintains he did not commit. Just who is the mysterious blonde woman found stabbed to death on the floor of his hotel bathroom and why would anyone want to frame him? The book is an account of how the central character serves his time and is then released to begin his quest as to who did this to him and why. Moving between Poland and the UK, the story is full of drama and intrigue with strong characterisation. Perhaps more than anything, it explores the weaknesses of the human condition and how we are all to some extent, shaped by our past experiences. Meet the author as he signs the copy of a non-predictable story end.

Judith Hollinshed talks about her book Paper Lady

The author talk is hosted by Philip Selth OAM, retired executive director of the NSW Bar Asociation. The talk is entitled 'Coastwatchers'. Judith was always a would-be writer, but it wasn’t until Judith Hollinshed and her husband went to Papua New Guinea to grow coffee that she considered publication. Her memoir was published before she ventured into fiction. Papua New Guinea has very recently achieved independence and Australia is helping to organise the transition. The thriller revolves around the relief journalist Nicola Jameson, fresh into Mount Hagen following a disastrous eight months in Port Moresby, working for Papua Guinea’s only daily newspaper, covering this tension and the new administration’s handling of affairs is a God-given chance for her to revive her career. But the more she gets into the intricacies of traditional custom and the politics of land transition, the more she loses sight of the necessary divide between journalism and participation—especially when she finds herself attracted to Kuria plantation owner Ian Hilder.
