Rebecca Henry will be at the Bartram Trail Library in Fruit Cove, Florida for a book event. She will discuss her book ‘The Lady Raven’ and tell everyone how this isn’t like the fairytale from their childhoods. The magical fantasy plot of the book tells the story of Zezolla, a princess who is abandoned by her father and she lands in the clutches of an evil stepmother and sisters. But that’s where the comparison with any fairytales ends as readers learn the twisted and macabre events of the story. The cruelty shown to the little princess is beyond anything that she had known before. Her friends, a raven and a wolf, are her only solace. She must find the strength to fight her tormenters and escape on her own. Rebecca loves to travel and she was most inspired by the beauty of English countryside. She is a vegan and loves yoga.
Alistair Paterson, the famed poet and fiction writer, will be in attendance at the Devonport Public Library in March to cast the magic of his poetry. He will read some of his stanzas in an event for the launch of the Poetry New Zealand Yearbook 2018. His latest work of fiction is ‘Passant: A Journey to Elsewhere’, that takes us back to the 1930s, where the protagonist shares his experience of Great Depression and World War II. The family is hit with tragedy and is torn apart. The story takes us through what the hero of the story experienced firsthand. His illness, a dangerous medical procedure, and the psychological impact of everything that he has gone through show the survival instinct and determination of the boy. Paterson, is a rare talent and a chance to hear him read his poetry will be amazing for everyone who is a fan of his writing.
Sue Batten will be in Cultural Community Solutions, Shirley Library, to read from her wonderful book ‘Colin and Carrie Stories’. The event will be a part of the ‘Book Buddies’ group that is for children ages 7 and under. The author will tell the tale of Colin the car who is worried about the new purchase that his family is about to make. A caravan named Carrie joins them and Colin doesn’t know who he will lug her around. But his worries dissipate when he meets Carrie, who is not at all like he imagined. So begins the adventures they embark on, along with their family. Sue has poured her imagination into this children’s story and her experience of travelling inside her family’s caravan also played an important role. These imaginative tales came about when the author was trying to entertain her kids on their holidays.
Annabelle Knight will be at ErotiCon next March talking about The Erotica Effect – Exploring the Modern Dimensions of The Erotica Genre. Eroticon conference was launched in 2012 to give erotic writers and bloggers the tools to hone their craft in a collaborative environment. Knight is a sex and relationship expert. She's appeared on many television programs and is featured regularly in magazines and newspapers and can often be found offering sex advice and discussing hot topics. Annabelle has recently written her debut novel, 'The Endless Autumn'. Patricia Hutson will be at Author Essex Day for a Pop Up Podium and book reading of her romance novel ‘Purple Michaelmas’, published by Austin Macauley Publishers. The first instinct would be to leave everything and be with that person but all the responsibilities of life cannot be ignored. That is the situation in which Vicki finds herself in.
