David Baresch at Infinity Books Japan

David Baresch will be signing copies of 'The Tides of March' at Infinity Books in Japan on Saturday 13th February from 2-4pm. What are the effects of a magnitude-9 earthquake coursing through the land and followed by a towering tsunami resulting in an exploding nuclear power plant? Whilst teaching English in Japan in March 2011 David Baresch found out. ‘Tides of March' tells of his experience of living through that time. The book takes the reader on a journey through a city of swaying skyscrapers, the desolate tsunami torn districts, idyllic lands carpeted with radiation, and the story of an incredible dying survivor. ‘Tides of March' questions the official release of disaster information. It questions the adequacy of the radioactive exclusion zone. It questions the containment of contaminated waste. It questions the populace's desire to know the truth. Using his own photographs, the author's powerful first-hand account brings a new, previously unseen focus to the after-effects of one of the worst disasters ever to hit Japan.

'Become the Best You' at Carshalton Library

Broken all of your New Year's resolutions? Not to worry! Author of bestselling self-help book Become The Best You Reneé Davis will be at Carshalton Library on Saturday 6th February between 3-5pm to help you get back into the swing of things. After a dysfunctional childhood, Reneé Davis’ teens and early twenties were spent in self- destruct mode – she drank too much, partied too much and flirted with the dark side whenever she could. Upon reflection she says: “Those days were peppered with bad decisions, and I did plenty of things that I'm not very proud of now.” Eventually hitting rock bottom and suffering several nervous breakdowns, Reneé began seeing a therapist and turned her life around. From quitting drugs and alcohol, to cutting out negative influences, to eating better and spending less money, Reneé says: “I got truly happy, and finally made peace with my painful past.” Now Reneé has shared her expertise in “Become the Best You” – a book that is part memoir, part self-help, and details how she ditched negative influences and behaviour to break the cycle of dysfunction. Reneé also blogs at “Mummy Tries” about the ups and downs of parenting with her young family. Her husband and three children are her main sources of inspiration.
