In The Shades of the Oaks, is the story of a young rancher who grew up on farms and worked his way through life. At the tender age of 15, he meets a girl at school and young love blossoms with a passion. As the author came from a similar background, he has written the story in more of wishful thinking, making the protagonist as wealthy as he never got to be.
Robert A. Durant was born in 1936 in a large family. He saw his four older brothers leave home to join the army for WWII. His father was a farmer and he started working on farms at a very young age. Later, he started working as an ad composer for a newspaper. Later he shifted career and got employed by a chemical plant. In 1999 he retired and started writing. He enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.
