
Mark Edelman Dialogue Center Hosts Successful Screening with Doniphan Blair
The Mark Edelman Dialogue Center in Lodz, Poland, welcomed over 30 attendees for an impactful event on August 27th. Tonia Rotkopf Blair’s son Doniphan Blair, presented the documentary "Holocaust Vacation" at the center, highlighting his family's connection to the historical narrative and representing his mother’s thoughts. In Love at the End of the World, Tonia Rotkopf Blair recounts her return to Poland after a 35-year absence, weaving poignant tales of her experiences during the Holocaust. Despite the wartime horrors, Blair, characterized as a romantic young woman, exemplified love and kindness, providing a distinctive viewpoint. The book, enhanced by an essay from her son, challenges conventional perspectives by emphasizing the concept of survival of the most loving.
Tonia Rotkopf Blair, survived Auschwitz as the youngest nurse in the Lodz ghetto during the German invasion, settled in New York City, earned a sociology degree at sixty-three, and pursued creative writing. Her son, Doniphan Blair, born in 1954, established himself in San Francisco with a film degree and now manages a design studio while publishing cineSOURCE magazine in Oakland, California.
