The Legiontown USA recommends the book as a must read for the people who are interested in the events of history and the war’s impacts that stayed in the society. The book is about the band of young lawyers who have been posted in Vietnam at the time of War. They had also spent nearly more than a year in becoming Marine Corps infantry officers. They came together in 1969- 70 in the province of Da Nang Vietnam. Their lives back there were dictated by enemy attacks, they were not interested in the war while they were very interested in their work. This group of lawyers was dealing with multiple cases that ranged from sleeping on posts to multiple murder cases. The inner rivalries and the turmoil of the War made it very hard to live but one had to be very clever to be good in such a hostile environment. These officers did remarkable jobs there and lived their lives to tell the tales. The author, Richard Franks served in the Marine Corps and after his retirement, he served as court Judge in Missouri. He competed for the congressional seat in 1974 but lost. He also worked as a general counsel for local construction law and eventually went on working as a project manager legal counsels across projects in many continents.
