Donald Yackel’s Book Presenting Ceremony at Sebastian Inlet US Power Squadron Meeting
Author of the book, ‘The Idling Bulldozer and Other Paddling Adventures’, Donald D. Yackel was at Sebastian Intel US Power Squadron meeting to present his book. He gained appreciation from the audience and answered questions about his paddling adventures.
This is an autobiography and memoir which tells different paddling adventures that took place across US and Canada. The author is surrounded by a natural environment in all of the locations he visits, where sometimes they might be beautiful and breathtaking while other times, they can be harsh, wet and extremely startling.
But it is all worth it as someday, you might be able to witness the sunrise over a salt marsh and watch manatees playing in the shadows or you might hear the mesmerizing sounds of Ibis scavenging along the shores of a beautiful river.
This is a heart wobbling and touching story of a man who tries to re-connect with nature and its surroundings. The experiences are frightening, glorifying and challenging but his journey is merely a small attempt to honor the Mother Nature for her uncountable blessings.
The author, Donald D. Yackel was born under the sign of ‘Aquarius’ which is the sign of water and that might be the reason to explain his admiration for rivers and boats. He learned a lot about the nature in his childhood and over the years he got experienced in sailing and kayaking. This book is his lifelong journey in the world of canoe camping, kayaking and exploring natural surroundings.
