Author David Preece joined families and young readers for a special storytime session at Wonderland Books & Toys in Manchester, New Hampshire, as part of the store’s First Anniversary and Independent Bookstore Day celebration. Held on Saturday, 26th April, the event featured a full day of community activities, with Preece reading from his heartwarming children’s book, A Home for Mr. Higgins. 

A Home for Mr. Higgins introduces a spirited Scottish terrier in search of love and belonging, eventually adopted by two caring dads. The beloved series also includes Mr. Higgins Takes a Stand and Mr. Higgins to the Rescue, which tackle important themes like self-confidence, bullying, and helping others. 

Inspired by the real-life adoption of a rescue dog, co-authors David Preece and Jim Webber created Mr. Higgins as a tribute to love, resilience, and family. The event brought their joyful stories to life, leaving tails wagging and hearts full.
