
Darby, the Horse from Hope by Margaret Combs Won Middle Grade and Young Adult Books Awards
We are delighted to share with you that Darby, the Horse from Hope by Margaret Combs won the Middle Grade and Young Adult Books Awards. The awards were announced on June 2019. M.C. Combs, won first place in the West Virginia Writers Association Competition in the Middle Grade and Young Adult Books category for her informative title, Darby, the Horse from Hope.
Darby, the Horse from Hope is a story of how animals can feel and respond to the needs of humans. That is why horses have been found much successful in providing therapy for people with many different needs. There are many such horse therapy programs all over the United States. While this story is fiction oriented, what the horses can achieve is remarkable. Here, Darby deals with the depression experienced by PTSD patients.
M. C. Combs is a retired business executive writing for various business publications throughout in her career. She published poetry and one military-based novel about her husband’s profession. A military doctor who returned home with PTSD was the inspiration of M. C. Comb for writing such an informative book.
