For This I am Grateful is the autobiography of Christine Thelker who was diagnosed with dementia at the age of 55. This wonderful book tells readers about the struggles a person with dementia has to go through. It recounts the events long before she had dementia—she worked in a Dementia care center earlier—and how, after her diagnosis, did she plan her journey, with the help and support of Dementia Alliance International, towards a more purposeful life. It talks about the stigmas and discriminations she has faced, and that woefully, all people with dementia still face almost daily. For This I am Grateful is an uplifting book for those along with their families who go through any form of impairment or sickness in their lives. At the same time, it is an enlightening read for healthy individuals.
