Books Donated to Chicago Hearing Society
Austin Macauley Publishers’ New York office recently participated in the American Library Association (ALA) exhibition. Our company representatives set up a booth and networked with library professionals. During the exhibition, we got to know about the Chicago Hearing Society (CHS). They were present at the exhibition to spread the word about their CHOICES for Parents program. They distributed books to children and adults with hearing loss. We donated 55 books to support this excellent cause.
CHS’ CHOICES for Parents program focuses on literacy of deaf children. They promote the love of reading in children, teens, and adults in the program.
Learning takes place in the early years of the child’s life and this program encourages parents to help their children to learn reading, no matter what the scale of their hearing loss is.
We venture to participate in as many programs as we can, which promote the activity of reading amongst children.
We know that these books will be put to good use by CHS - who has distributed 60,000 books, so far, among people with hearing loss - and find their way to children who will fall in love with them.
You can visit their website and learn more about the great work they are doing in the city of Chicago. You can also look into different ways to get involved and promote the program.
