Scattered Books, at Chappaqua, New York hosted a ‘Children’s Authors Day’ event, which was attended by Gail Gurland. During the event, she highlighted her darling children’s book, ‘Olives Where Are You?’. The visitors showed their interest in the book and asked interesting questions about her book. This educational book is for children and their parents. The book is about a little girl, Emily who will eat nothing but Olives. Her parents encourage her to try different foods but she wouldn’t touch any. Emily tells her parents that there is only one food that she wants for each and every meal. Emily does not want to eat other vegetables or food. It takes some time before she comes around to eating other foods, but only after discovering herself. The book is an invitation to join the journey of self-discovery and let go of customary likes and explore new options. Gail Gurland has been in the field of education for more than four decades. She has worked with students of all ages, especially those with reading and literacy difficulties. Gail Gurland has also authored a middle-grade novel ‘The Secret Files of Phineas Foster’, and published several workbooks for vocabulary development.  Now, she is focused on the early learners and paying attention to young readers.
