The Garden of Calilily, written by Chrystie Keller, is a children's book that promotes mindfulness through fairy tales. The book features two fairy sisters, Marigold and Sweetpea, who usually do a good job. However, they each have personalities that tend to distract them from their chores, leading them into a bit of a forgetful situation. Marigold forgets which plants she has watered, and Sweetpea can't remember where she planted some seeds. This unfortunate situation leads them on a journey to see if they can find their thoughts and remember what they had forgotten. Will the sisters finally remember and, if so, how did they achieve it?
The Garden of Calilily is beautifully written by author Chrystie Keller. She has created two enjoyable characters and given them distinct personalities that children will relate to. My favorite part of the book was at the end when the sisters finally realize what they need to do to remember what they had forgotten because it rounds up the message the author is trying to teach. The message I took from the book is that if you feel a little lost or forgetful, all you need to do is be still and calm, and your mind will do the rest. Not only will children learn from this message, but I feel that adults could also do with a reminder to take care of their minds. I loved every page of this beautiful book, and I hope to see more work from Chrystie Keller in the future. Well done on creating this excellent book!
