A pile of puzzling objects suddenly appears on Isabella’s porch step. As more of the same piles clutter her lawn each passing day, Isabella’s health deteriorates, arousing her best friend Bonnie to suspect brujeria in a sinister plan to destroy Isabella.

Dr. Zuniga, a renowned anthropologist, confirms Bonnie’s suspicions after seeing the evidence in Polaroids taken by Isabella and advises her that only an experienced curandero or priest can break these powerful spells.

When Isabella turns to Father Andrew for help, she is unaware he carries a dark secret that traces his family lineage back to Eve and the Serpent in the Garden of Eden, a link tying him to the 13 ruling families of the powerful elite.

To deliver Isabella from the forces of evil, Father Andrew must travel back in time to confront deeply embedded memories of unspeakable crimes against humanity. To save a life, the perilous path into the past may cost him his own life.

In a region of the country where palm trees, the gulf breeze, piñata fiestas, and Tejano music pervade the heart of deep South Texas, old family traditions, along with a tequila blend of Hispanic and American values, invariably clash against witchcraft rituals and satanic sacrifices.

Passionate about health, fitness, and riding with the South Texas wind in her Harley Davidson Night Rod, Amy Sierra Frazier, a published author of several short stories, is a senior lecturer in the Department of Writing and Language Studies at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She beams with pride, mentoring and coaching young, talented university writers in the Mathematics and Science Academy’s creative writing program Authors’ Corner. Amy studied literature and creative writing in Oxford. She loves traveling, socializing, and her sweet Westies Dundee and Bonnie Bleu.

This book is very good from start to finish. It has a very good plot that captures the reader and it is easy to understand what the conflict in the story is. As the story unfolds, it makes you feel part of it and makes you connect with the characters. Personally, this story at the time of reading it left me more and more intrigued and wanting to reach the outcome quickly. If you are a suspense fan like me, I would highly recommend reading this book. It is easy to understand the story, since everything is very clear, the way the characters develop and the way the story flows. A book that I recommend reading.

Amy Frazier’s debut novelette proves short stories can pack a punch. The craft, the writing style but most importantly the twists submerge you in a well of curiosity. As a reader who finds attraction in mystery, this was a go-to. This novelette appeals to the Hispanic community in such a well manner. Frazier’s protagonist is named Isabella. Her job juxtaposes the stereotype of women in the Hispanic community, but this does not leave her immune to the forces of evil. The descriptive imagery surrounding The Man in Black terrified me. While some may argue the ending was rushed, it is a twist that speaks on the issue that the media agenda tries to silence. Father Andrew was definitively the highlight of this novelette. Amy Frazier’s heritage is praised through the inclusion of Spanish words amongst English sentences. As a native speaker this was a nice addition, however I can see the issue with non-speakers. Despite that, I would most certainly recommend this novelette. It is a quick read and only leaves you wanting more content from the author.

This is a great short read that can be read in one sitting because it brings you in. This book was well written in how it gives you a sense of South Texas culture and language. As I began reading the book at first the author introduces a hectic scene that makes you want to continue to the next page. As the story continues it visually brings you into Isabella's world and what is happening to her. As the story progresses it was unpredictable, but the book keeps you wanting to turn to the next page and the next until you reach the end. "The Revelation" did not disappoint. After reading it I handed it over to my mom and sister who also read it the same day and really enjoyed the book as well. It was a great family discussion on what exactly happened and how the ending was so unexpected. I truly believe that the story can continue with part II.

“Brujeria in South Texas” had a very well-developed plot that made me properly understand what went through in every chapter of this novel. The complex details of every part aided me in making the imagery so my brain can comprehend it well. As someone who has lived in the valley, let me tell you that this novel does compliment the living here. I have heard stories like these from my grandparent and parents and knowing that it was based on where I live brings me memories from when I used to hear about these stories. The characters were very realistic by the use of dialogue and how they were described as people living in the Valley. It was easy to connect with this story because of the use of Spanish words. It was easy to understand it as well because if its complex details. It all flowed correctly into an unexpected ending. Overall, it is a great story, and I will most definitely keep waiting on more novels from the Author Amy Frazier.

Brujeria in South Texas by Amy Sierra Frazier is a book I would recommend to all my family and friends. Although the book may start off a little slow, it really picks up once you start reading it and you will not want to put it down. There is quite a bit of Spanish in it but I feel like there could be more because all of the Spanish people talk here in the deep South. After growing up in a household in South Texas, I found the book extremely relatable when they mention the Brujeria because it reminded me of my late grandmother who was very interested in it. I thought this book was very interesting and thought-provoking before, during, and after reading it.

This new novelette did amazing work providing great detail and suspense of a thriller and I would highly recommend this book to any book lover who finds the genre attractive as it does not disappoint also the flow of the book is easy to understand. The characters in the book come across different perspectives and backgrounds that dive into interesting personalities from the novel's start to the end. I also admit that the book comes with plenty of Spanish words and I praise Professor Frazier for implementing the Hispanic community and language throughout the book nevertheless non- speakers will have a problem understanding some phrases in the text. However, some parts of the book seemed rushed and not fully explained but also it was a quick book to read.

Wow! As someone who reads many books within the suspense genre, this is an amazingly well-written book. It really conjures the images of the mystery in south texas and compliments the countless stories that have originated from south texas as well. The concrete evidence that was given enhanced the feeling you get when you're reading, it feels as if you're there yourself. A multitude of books are hard to follow, however, this one made it so easy to become enthralled.
