Best patriotic reads for your fourth of July holiday
This Fourth of July, the United States of America celebrates its 246 years of Independence from Great Britain. The patriot in every American celebrates this historic event with enthusiasm by being a part of public festivities like parades or fireworks or having family gatherings over the holiday.
The tradition of celebrations commenced from July 4th, 1776, when the Continental Congress, along with the delegates of the 13 colonies formally adopted the Declaration of Independence. It was drafted by a five-man committee which included Thomas Jefferson (who wrote most of the draft), John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin, in Philadelphia. It was John Adams’ vision that the nation celebrates with much “pomp and parade”. After the war of 1812, the celebrations gained popularity, and in 1914, it was declared a federal holiday.
The American Independence Day symbolizes freedom from monarchy, advocating liberty, equality, national identity, and civil rights of the common man of the United States – the ideal nation, created due to the American Revolution (1775-83). So, to keep with the spirit of patriotism and to honor the sacrifices of the soldiers in the line of duty, we at Austin Macauley Publishers, have selected a collection of books. This year, enjoy your long weekend and indulge your senses with our finest books about war heroes, their war experiences turning into lessons for life and their courage, a source of inspiration.
