On the 24th of August, the Sudbury Star featured our wonderful author, Michelle Ongaro, and her novel, Broken Ties. The newspaper arranged a Q&A session with the esteemed author where she talked about her personal life, the motive behind writing the book, and the challenges writers go through during the course of turning their thoughts into words. The Sudbury Star is a local Canadian newspaper, popular among residents of the city. Answering the question whether it’s her story, Michelle said, “It is loosely based off some of my own experiences while growing up.” She also plans to write a sequel to the novel, she revealed. Laurie wants time to stay still—so she could enjoy the perfect moments of her life. But this doesn’t happen, of course, and her life takes a different turn when she falls in love with a handsome boy. As the story progresses, she tastes her own share of agonies—heartbreak and the grief of losing a loved one. She admits that turning out into a young woman is not easy and that it’s time to embrace whatever life offers. Is she mature enough to navigate through what comes next?
