Ray Barron-Woolford’s recently published book, The Last Queen of Scotland has been reviewed by The Fife Today. The Last Queen of Scotland is a biography based on the life of former Kirkcaldy schoolteacher and a Scottish activist famous across the UK, Kath Duncan. The author aims to bring to light the works of Kath left in the shadow of history. She was a working-class woman who played an immensely significant role in politics. She was a highly substantial champion of the poor and the unemployed. She was a tireless campaigner for workers’ rights and spent two jail terms in prison for making political speeches. Ray Barron-Woolford is an exceptional author, playwright, broadcaster and most of all a community activist. He recently scripted a play on the life of Kath Duncan which was entitled as Liberty. The stage play fixated on Kath’s role in establishing the LGBTQ and civil rights movement in Britain during the 1930s which as responsible for laying the groundwork for The National Council Civil Liberties.
