Catherine Siska will unlock the story behind her novel on That’s Lancashire TV on Wednesday. Her book ‘Unlocking the Iron Gate’ is part of the feature that the channel is doing. The author takes us to the tumultuous 1950s Czechoslovakia, which is separated from the rest of the world and not allowed the freedom and right of the Western society. We meet Zuzana, Jozef and Pavol, a family that is suffering the evils of the tyrannical regime. Marxism and Leninism are present in their worst form and the family must fight through all of it to keep their beliefs alive. Pavol’s spirit remains strong even after living his life under such restrictions and he becomes a professor at a university against all odds.
