In The Boy in the Basement, set during Halloween 2019 in Mobile, Alabama, CPS supervisor Jennifer Riley and her team face a series of grim child abuse cases. They investigate a boy locked in a basement by his mother and a baby girl on life support due to her parents' drug addiction. As they navigate these complex cases, Jennifer is devastated by the murder of a former foster child. This personal crisis challenges her beliefs and threatens her work, while an unexpected romance begins to offer the support she needs.
