This is the story of Lex, who happens to live in a dictionary. He also happens to be a sleepwalker. One morning, Lex finds himself out of his bed in an unfamiliar page. Helped by a friendly yak and other kind animals and people, Lex journeys through the dictionary to find his way home.

Mark graduated from Indiana University with an undergraduate degree in chemistry and from the Ohio State University with an MBA in finance. Working in the field of accounting for many years led him to a pursuit apparently as far from that path as possible: creative writing. After the birth of his children, Mark decided he wanted to write a book that he could read to them at bedtime. As a child, Mark would browse through a very large dictionary that he had been gifted and check off all of the words that he had looked up. From those two arcs arose The Story of Lex (Lexicon).

What a unique and amazingly fun read. The entire story played out in my head like a Pixar movie and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised to see this turned into a movie. I instantly fell in love with the character and his journey. I found myself waiting for each word to correspond to whatever letter of the alphabet’s page Lex found himself in. Towards the end I even found myself getting a bit emotional. Overall I can’t recommend this book enough. I will be looking forward to more work from this author; it was also fun to read his backstory. My only wish is that this book was longer.

This is such a sweet book and a great storyline! I think it's one that can grow and develop into a series of books that children can learn from and look forward to reading more stories of Lex's adventures through the dictionary! The possibilities are endless. Great job, Mark! I can't wait for the next one!
