Emily is an agent of the Preservation Team that supposedly works for the government. After being threatened by ex-agent Kate, who seeks to reveal the true purpose of the Preservation Team, Emily begins to suspect that there are more things hidden than open about the organization and its leader, Chief. While going on missions and fighting her own family problems, her desire to find out the truth pulls her into a conflict that began twenty-seven years ago. All that is left for Emily and her friend, Agent James, is to go on the hunt after Kate and discover the truth that has been kept secret from all of them.

By the end of high school, due to parents’ work, Varvara Krasneva had lived in three different continents, four countries, eight cities, and changed seven schools. Throughout these moves, Varvara has always continued to snowboard even at an indoor hill in the United Arab Emirates. Yet, snowboarding at the local mountains near Vancouver is her favorite place to ride. The Russian Canadian author has done competitive slopestyle snowboarding since she was nine years old, competing at Provincial and National levels in Canada. Varvara is also a graduate of Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Snowboarding and psychology continuously accompany her in her writing.

The book is a fun adventure, in which the reader learns an important moral lesson. Even the names of all the characters foreshadow this moral lesson that is fully revealed at the end of the book.

Teenage Dream is a remarkable first novel by this new young writer. It draws on her love of snowboarding, familiarity with the Canadian outdoors, her international life-to-date, and real thoughtfulness about family and the relationship between parents and their kids. However, it's the story itself--the sheer creativity of it and all its unexpected twists and turns--that is so cool. I'm a father and a grandfather, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Buy this book, read it, then pass it along to your friends, daughters, sons, mothers, and fathers. You and they will be glad you did!

Just finished reading "Teenage Dream" by Varvara Krasneva and I'm still captivated by the story! This coming-of-age novel takes you on an emotional rollercoaster as a group of teenagers navigate the complexities of adolescence, friendships, and first love. The characters feel so real and relatable, making their struggles and dreams hit close to home. Krasneva's writing style is engaging, and the immersive descriptions of the small suburban town will transport you right into the heart of the story. Emily serves as a member of the Preservation Team, an organization believed to operate under governmental authority. When confronted with threats from former agent Kate, who intends to expose the true motives behind the team's actions, Emily starts questioning the existence of undisclosed information surrounding the group and its leader, Chief. Amidst her personal struggles and ongoing missions, Emily's determination to uncover the truth entangles her in a conflict that traces back twenty-seven years. Together with her ally, Agent James, they embark on a pursuit of Kate, driven by the shared goal of unraveling the concealed reality that has eluded them all. Teenage Dream" tackles universal themes like self-acceptance, identity, and the consequences of our choices. It's a powerful reminder of the transformative power of self-discovery. The author subtly touches on societal issues, encouraging readers to think beyond their own lives and reflect on the world around them. The only minor critique I have is that the pacing felt a bit rushed at times, and I wished certain events were explored in more depth. However, that didn't take away from the overall enjoyment of the book! If you're looking for a relatable and thought-provoking read that will transport you back to the joys and challenges of adolescence, "Teenage Dream" is a must-read! Highly recommended for both teenagers and those who cherish their own teenage memories. #TeenageDream #ComingOfAge #BookReview #CaptivatingRead #MustRead #SelfDiscovery
