ReAssigned is a captivating thriller by Shayla C. Freeman. The story follows Dr. Savannah Dawson, an ER doctor torn between her love for saving lives in the medical field and her duty as a CIA agent. While we often think of terrorism in terms of physical weapons, the book sheds light on the dangers of biological warfare due to advancements in technology and scientific innovation. Half a year ago, a discussion about a new biological weapon that the U.S.A. was unaware of emerged. Since bioterrorism is a threat to America, Dr. Dawson and other CIA agents were sent to Singapore to find out what it was, who had it, and how they were planning to use it. Will they succeed in this risky mission? I invite you to find out. During Dr. Dawson's mission in Singapore, a sudden earthquake caused injuries and fatalities among the residents. Her expertise in emergency medical care allowed her to guide fellow medics in handling various medical emergencies. You will learn about color-coded patient categorization and the proper protocols for helping patients with fractures, hemorrhages, and breathing difficulties. Dawson's bravery and resilience during times of danger earned her recognition from the media and esteemed individuals like Lian Ong. Although Lian's health was of concern, her secret mission was the key to solving the biological weapon mystery. Dr. Dawson, Lacey, Karmen, and Charlee leveraged Lian's condition and launched an investigation aiming to expose Lian and her accomplices. Unaware that someone else was watching them, the four agents became victims of the person they were after. A deadly confrontation followed, compromising their mission and safety. My favorite character in this book is Huan Zhang, whose passion for scientific research was compromised by Lian's thirst for revenge. Huan unravels the enigma of 'Death Cap Gas,' exploring its chemical composition and effects on humans. Medical professionals will find this book fascinating for several reasons. First, Dr. Dawson simplifies the concept of mass causality triage practically, making the book engaging. Moreover, the book sheds light on the potential drawbacks of chemotherapy. You will be captivated by the strategic approaches employed by the CIA agents in their mission. While each agent played a distinct and vital role, Lacey's near-death experience left me in sheer admiration. I love this book for several reasons. First, the author's storytelling skills bring the scenes to life, immersing you in a thrilling reading experience. Second, the book's seamless plot ensures a flawless read from start to finish. Lastly, the perfect blend of crime, emergency care, and scientific research creates an insightful and captivating story. I dislike nothing about this book to deny it a perfect rating. The editing team did well; I encountered less than ten errors while reading. I rate this book five out of five stars because of the positive aspects mentioned above. I recommend it to lovers of crime and investigation novels.
