“Rain is essential for life.”

This story is about a jungle princess named Rain. When she is happy, she creates ample amounts of rain for the rainforest. However, when she is sad, it becomes too sunny, resulting a drought. Unfortunately, her protector, Shadow, gets captured and causes Rain to become sad. This causes everyone in the jungle to search for Shadow so the jungle’s habitat does not dry up. Rain goes on an adventure and searches for Shadow alone.

Candice Gartzke has always dreamed of publishing children’s storybooks and this dream has become a reality. She believes that a storybook can change the perspectives of those who read it, which can then change the world. She promotes the forces of good winning in the end and yearns for people to believe in fairy tales.

I absolutely love this book- what a beautiful story and the illustrations are gorgeous. I also believe it teaches children so much about love . Such a sweet story- should be in every classroom library. I know my grandchildren will enjoy this book. Perhaps I need another- as a grown woman the story speaks to me.

RainShadow is a magical fairytale. It is illustrated in beautiful water color drawings that give a mystical old world feel. I like how the story starts; “In times past, a journey unspoken of until now…” to me this adds to the interest and mystery. I like how when you combine the two main character’s names you get the title, RainShadow which the meaning of the words rain shadow is an interesting discussion and the idea that ‘rain is essential for life’ in a rainforest. Many characters possess fun magical powers; like Rain whose emotions can influence the weather; Shadow whose form of either a black panther or human is affected by the intensity of light; and Softy, the spider, who creates a magical web. There is adventure, magical forces, an evil villain, and the rescue by the female character, Rain. RainShadow to me “will be remembered forevermore”.

RainShadow is a delightful story that is well written, accompanied by beautiful artistic imagery to fuel your imagination. It is an excellent read for all ages but will be of special interest to those who enjoy fantasy and intrigue. It certainly keeps you wondering what will happen next. RainShadow is a must-buy for parents or grandparents of young children looking for a good book to cuddle up with for that special bedtime story.
