About Mr. Higgins:

In 2014, authors David Preece and Jim Webber adopted a shy, nervous, and slightly suspicious mid-life black Scottish terrier. “Mr. Higgins”—the dignified name he arrived with—slowly blossomed in his new forever home. Though still cautious with strangers, he grew into a loyal, affectionate companion who returned love in his own steadfast way, all while keeping his dads on a strict daily routine.

Not one for pats on the head, Higgins prefers a gentle touch along his sides and the comfort of burrowing into a cozy space. He delights in walks, other dogs, treats, and—as a natural-born outfielder—an enthusiastic game of fetch. His quirks, courage, and quiet resilience inspired the stories that now bear his name.

Besides being an urban planner, David Preece has had many productions of his award-winning plays and screenplays performed. His education and training include Weber State University, Western Kentucky University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, HB Studios, Playwrights Horizons, American Conservatory Theatre, and the University of California, Los Angeles. He is currently serving in the New Hampshire State House of Representatives.

Jim Webber (co-author) is also the co-author of the original holiday musical Judy’s Scary Little Christmas, published by Samuel French Plays. He is an award-winning set designer for over seventy-five community and regional stage productions in New England and also directs plays. Jim is currently involved in creating and marketing special events for theater, television, and film nonprofits in New Hampshire.
