Stephanie Rivera tells a beautiful story of pride and forgiveness. Brave seven-year-old Martita and her new diminutive friend step in to help a young dragon discover courage he didn’t know he had. Excitement and friendship abound in this heartwarming story—complete with breathtaking illustrations by Brooke Musselman—that preserves the honorable lineage of the Muldoon Dragons.

About the Author

Stephanie Rivera has been writing professionally for several decades. She has earned degrees from Boston University and the University of Rhode Island and has written columns about politics for the Providence Journal until her move to Iowa with her husband after selling their business and retiring. Her thesis for a master’s degree was a collection of short stories about American life.

Her hobby was making up stories to tell her daughter, Heather, when she was a child. The story of Martita came from writing on her lunch break while working for Boston University. Her friend and co-worker, Martha, inspired her to create stories during their free time. Ms. Rivera now resides in South Lake Tahoe, California.

About the Illustrator

Brooke Musselman is a watercolor artist and illustrator of two children’s books. Her work combines traditional watercolor techniques with a clean, thoughtful visual style that resonates with both children and adults.

Brooke’s illustrations reflect a deep love of nature, a touch of whimsy, and the quiet innocence of childhood—all brought to life through soft, detailed brushwork. In addition to her books, she creates commissioned pieces, participates in juried art competitions, and is featured in a local gallery.

Based in Tipp City, Ohio, Brooke lives with her husband, their five-year-old son, and two dogs. Alongside her artistic work, she serves as a victim advocate in the court system, using art as a grounding and therapeutic balance in her daily life.
