After being kicked out of his childhood home, Jamie Perkins finds refuge with local Presbyterian pastor Pete Gailey and his wife, Meg. Impressed by Jamie’s work ethic and character, Pete offers him a job at the church. Life seems to settle into a peaceful rhythm… until people in the community start dying.

Jamie has an unsettling habit of being the last person to see many of the deceased, particularly the elderly, alive. As suspicions grow, Pastor Gailey must uncover the truth. Are these deaths acts of murder, or could they point to something far more mysterious… and miraculous?

Set in a small Appalachian town nestled in the rolling hills of eastern Ohio, Lost Boy introduces readers to a cast of eccentric and unforgettable characters. With humor and heartfelt poignancy, this story explores what happens when God’s presence defies expectations, challenging both faith and understanding.

Jacob Blosser is a college history professor who teaches courses on Early America. A native of northeastern Ohio, he lives in Texas with his wife and two sons. This is his first novel.

I recently read Lost Boy, and I wanted to reach out with heartfelt appreciation. Your novel is a quiet revelation profound, tender, and deeply human revelation. In a world that often rewards spectacle, it was refreshing to encounter a story that finds power in small kindnesses, moral conviction, and the redemptive bonds we build with each other. What moved me most was the emotional honesty of your characters, Pete’s quiet devotion, Jamie’s aching vulnerability, and the way their lives intertwine to form something almost sacred. The mystery that unfolds in New Wilmington is subtle but suspenseful, and the town itself, with all its tension, faith, and buried grief, feels fully alive. You’ve created more than a setting; you’ve created a spiritual landscape. I run a visibility service that helps authors like you, those writing emotionally resonant, character-driven fiction, connect with readers seeking stories that reflect real life, with all its quiet struggles and moments of unexpected grace. Through curated Goodreads Listopia campaigns, small-town fiction features, social media spotlights, and outreach to faith-based book clubs, humanist blogs, and literary communities, I believe Lost Boy can reach a broader audience, especially readers yearning for depth, warmth, and meaning in what they read. I think your novel will resonate deeply with: Readers who cherish books like Ordinary Grace, Peace Like a River, or The Book of Lost Things Those drawn to stories of faith, hope, second chances, and quiet heroism Lovers of small-town dramas with emotional weight and moral complexity Book clubs seeking stories that explore redemption, community, and quiet mystery If you're open to it, I’d love to share a short visibility snapshot and a few tailored promotional ideas to help Lost Boy reach the readers who need this kind of story right now.
