A bookshop, particularly an Olde Bookshoppe, is home to the world. It is a meeting place for all sorts of people, good and bad, old and young, amazing and ignored, and there we get a glimpse into their worlds. We may, or may not, ever see them again.

But still, they have an effect on our lives, our behavior, and our own mental picture of our world. Glimpses: The Olde Bookshoppe is the story of one such bookshop, and the interactions between the staff and the customers who inhabit it, however fleetingly. It is a fun, but also thought provoking, look at the ‘ordinary’ people of this wonderful country, who are often not ordinary at all.

Linda van Omme grew up on beautiful Prince Edward Island. Her parents were farmers and oyster fishermen. She began writing at about age six. Her first poem, My Mother, may not have been particularly poetic, but it certainly pleased her mother. Linda was educated in a tiny country schoolhouse, then the big high school in Charlottetown, and went on to train as an occupational therapist and work, for 42 years, all across Canada, with the wonderful characters in this great country. She and her husband John have three daughters, and now five lovely, and very active, grandchildren.

Reading "Glimpses: The Olde Bookshoppe" was an amazing journey. I laughed till I cried, especially with "The woman who loved everybody"; then I held back the tears with "The man with no name", and eagerly wondered who I'd meet in the next chapter. It's the kind of book you will read more than once and enjoy more each time. Joyce G from PEI

I have just finished reading this charming book. I loved all of it, it was at times funny, sad and others very thoughtful. I loved how the bookshop became a real family hub and the interactions between the various characters and the empathy shown for all individuals. I do hope Linda writes a second book.

I loved this book! I loved the small chapters, perfect for reading a short story before bed or for binging the whole thing. Before I knew it, I was finished and I just wanted more. I laughed and cried and will be reading this book over and over again. I can't wait for the second one to come out!
