Marcus is a young, autistic man, living with his father. He faces many challenges as he begins his adult life in a world of non-acceptance, bigotry, friendship, love, loss, and great challenges in trying to fit into the workplace. His adventures are full of laughter, sadness, and a touch of romance.

Marcus and his father share a rare bond. It is the bond known by many disabled people and their caregivers. This bond is also a key character in the story. Paul Nelson is a retired Middle School Music teacher. He grew up in the woods of Pennsylvania but now lives with his son, Michael, in Buffalo, New York. Michael is autistic and non-verbal. He inspires many of the characters for Paul's books. As a team, Paul and Michael have written eleven books to entertain and enlighten others about autism. They believe that fiction, rather than "preaching," is a great way to open eyes and minds.
