Chasing Light, begins with the story of Anthony Beckles, an international student from the island of Jamaica in the Caribbean. He is pursuing a postgraduate degree in marine biology at California State University Monterey, where he meets Aileen Wu, a second-generation American Chinese student, completing a master’s degree in social work.

Chasing Light also explores the stories of Anthony’s immigrant brothers, Donald and Trevor, together with their partners, traversing a generation to their young niece Carla, her partner, Antonio, and his own Spanish mother, Consuela, as well as Keira and Pari, truly intriguing twin sisters from Kerala, India, who first meet Anthony and Aileen in the small Atlantic island archipelago of Bermuda.

If you are a reader who enjoys complex characters that drive immersive plots, and the evocation of eidetic locations, as well as searing emotions – thought-provoking novels, with dramatic twists, turns and thrills, shocking events, wildly intense sorrow, sudden chuckles, inspirational tropes, and memorable but unpredictable cross-cultural love stories, Chasing Light is for you!

Dennis J. Gayle has spent his professional life living and working in a range of countries and cultures, such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates, China, Singapore, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Chile, and Japan. His international career, which ended a few years ago, included working as a banker, a project management consultant, a diplomat, a university faculty member, and in time, an institutional leader. He regularly writes literary fiction – a passion and an avocation now happily pursued, while retired in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. During several decades as an academic faculty member, he published research in fields such as management, marketing, and international economics. His most recently published work includes a debut literary novel Swimming at Sunset and a work of lyrical poetry Mirrors.
