Benjamin H. Turney
Years ago, once Benjamin’s life had become unmanageable, he checked himself into rehab at Arrow Passage Recovery in Massillon, Ohio. He was fortunate to be with a great group of people, and he made some lifelong friendships, but he focused on his treatment before everything else. He participated in every group. He talked about things that made him uncomfortable. He went to bed early. He avoided arguing or getting upset with others. He read several books in his free time, and began jotting notes, and outlining his own stories.
Shortly after he came home, he was laid off from his job due to budget constraints. He took that time to write these stories over the course of two months. These stories capture his freshly sober mind at work. In this early stage, he was barely starting to focus and think clearly for the first time in years, but he had never felt so inspired. He chose to leave these stories, mostly unedited, to capture this fresh start with limitless potential. Early in recovery, something as simple as reading a short story from beginning to end, can build one’s confidence. Enjoy.
Stay Strong.
