Rick Magers

Rick and his partner, friends for 50 years, spent years offshore in their two 50-foot lobster boats, trapping lobsters in the 6,000 traps they built. Raised in Florida, both men were seasoned fishermen, working in the far northern Bahamian waters. However, their livelihood was threatened by greedy thieves from the Miami River who searched for and emptied lobster traps. Despite the thieves’ efforts, Rick and his partner were determined to protect their traps. They chased down the flimsy boats, warning the thieves to leave or face trouble if they returned. Every deckhand on the thieves’ boats held an M-15 rifle. Three boats came back, but only two returned home. This encounter was just the beginning of the story detailed in this book. In addition to being skilled fishermen, both men are licensed airplane pilots. While one pulled traps, the other conducted daily aerial surveillance, ensuring the safety of their valuable traps from above.
