Matthew Lomax
Matthew Lomax, a native of Long Island, continues to call Roosevelt, New York, his home. He is a graduate of Lincoln University and HBCU. He holds two master’s degrees, one from Queens College in Urban Affairs and the other from Hunter’s College in Elementary Education, with dual certification in general and Special Education. Matthew started his career in teaching as a substitute teacher, teaching student within the charter schools, teaching a general education curriculum. He has worked as a teacher for seven plus years, and now works within the NYS Department of Education as a special education teacher. Matthew is passionate about teaching and his philosophy is, that all students are able to learn if given the necessary tools for learning despite their learning challenges. He believes that instilling a strong sense of self in students at a young age is the key to success.
