Betty Pfeiffer took her first steps in realizing the wonders of the ocean's creatures while scuba diving. The dive master handed her asea cucumber. He then brought forth a baby octopus about eighteen inches long to touch. She still remembers the silky feel of the octopus beneath her hand and the gentle wrap of its tentacles around her arm. Betty took that encounter and continued her journey of learning about ocean life. In her new book, The Beauties and The Beasts, she now offers others some of the amazing things she has discovered.
